I am an Associate Professor, Lee Heng Fellow, in the Department of Information Systems, Business Statistics and Operations Management (ISOM), School of Business and Management, at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). I joined the department in July 2017.
I am also the Director of the Center for Business and Social Analytics (CBSA).
I am currently an Associate Editor for Information Systems Research (ISR), an Associate Editor for INFORMS Journal on Computing, and an Associate Editor for the MIS Quarterly (MISQ) Special Issue on “The Institutional Press in the Digital Age” and Special Issue on “Ethics, Regulation, and Policy”. I am also a Senior Area Chair for the ACL Rolling Review (ARR).
My research interests are natural language processing (NLP), large language model (LLM), machine learning, statistical inference, and their applications in finance and business.
I obtained a Ph.D. degree in Computer Science at Northwestern University in 2015, and a bachelor’s degree from University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) in 2009.
